NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Maybe you’re looking to get in shape for the New Year, but the pandemic has you nervous to visit a gym? Or you’re high-risk for COVID-19?

There are plenty of workouts you can do from the comfort and safety of home.

News 3 stopped by PHIT Shop, a new personal training studio on Oriana Road in Newport News, to get some advice from longtime personal trainer Kim Reaves.

Reaves says you can work your muscles using what you have at home, whether it be a piece of furniture or canned goods as weights.

For those who are worried about catching COVID-19 at a gym, Reaves says his studio is set up to try and prevent that from happening.

“We’re personal trainers. We’re not a gym so everything is done by appointment only,” said Reaves.

Reaves and his staff all wear masks when they’re working with clients, he says. They also sanitize after each class, take temperatures at the door and have an air filtration system.

Keeping people safe, while helping them get in shape for 2021.
