Jono Castano is the man behind Rebel Wilson’s incredible weight loss transformation. 

The personal trainer to the stars has guided the 40-year-old actress through her ‘year of health’ during which she has shed approximately 20 kilos so far. 

On Monday, Jono revealed the simple secret at the heart of his workout sessions with the actress – laughter.

In order to keep the star’s spirits high, the trainer said he’s not a hard taskmaster, and tries to make exercise fun. 

‘I love a bit of banter. It makes the session more enjoyable when people bounce off one another,’ he told news.com.au. 

‘You’ve got to enjoy coming to training. Most people don’t enjoy getting shouted at, that’s not what training is about. Rebel and I had a good laugh, so many laughs.’

Jono added that he believes in having treat days, telling the website: ‘I’m all about balance. 

‘When people hear the word ‘diet’ they get turned off and think they have to completely change their lifestyle. It’s not about that.

‘It’s about enjoying your treats. You can still go out for drinks with your mates, as long as you’re back on track the next day’. 

Before and after: Rebel has lost approximately 20 kilos over the past year, with a goal weight  of 75 kilos 

Earlier this year, Jono appeared on Sunrise, where he ran the hosts through Rebel’s workout routine.   

He first demonstrated weighted bicep curls, before moving on to shoulder presses.

The former soccer player-turned-weight loss expert explained that he uses both these exercises while training with Rebel.

Jono then demonstrated a number of overhead extensions, before moving on to weighted planks, which he suggested doing with a bell weight on your back for 10 seconds.

‘Exercise is just about getting the body moving,’ he said, adding that he combines ‘resistance and cardio’ when training with Rebel. 

He recommended 45 minutes of exercise five days a week, combined with a healthy diet, in order to achieve weight loss.
